About OCRA

The Orange County Reading Association (OCRA) is a professional organization of teachers, administrators, reading specialists, paraprofessionals, parents and others interested in the teaching of reading and the improvement of reading at all levels.

We are a local council of the California Reading Association (CRA) and the International Reading Association (IRA). We have achieved honor council status from IRA for over 30 consecutive years.

The Orange County Reading Association offers:

  • Concurrent membership to the California Reading Association
  • Two affordable conferences per year (Fall/Spring)
  • Orange County Reader (newsletter)

The Orange County Reading Association:

UNITES – teachers, other professionals and parents working for the welfare of children.

REPRESENTS – those working with students of all ages.

COORDINATES – activities related to the teaching and promotion of reading.

INFORMS – members of new trends in areas related to reading.

ENCOURAGES – progressive change through workshops, conferences, publications and special projects.

RECOGNIZES – educators throughout Orange County who have made special contributions to reading.

PARTICIPATES – in activities sponsored by the California Reading Association and the International Reading Association.
